Penwortham Girls’ High School’s Katie Lee has been selected to represent England in the Under-17s national netball squad.

After a gruelling selection process and over 12 months of intensive training, Lee has made it through to the final cut to represent England in the European Netball Championships in Malta next month.

The school’s Under-16s team made it a double celebration, when they made it through to the National Schools’ Netball Finals in Essex, also next month.

Penwortham went through as county runners-up. They won every game in their section and went on to meet Wilmslow High School in the semi-final.

They recovered from being 5-4 behind at half-time to win through to face Loreto Grammar School in the final.

Penwortham lost out 12-9 but go on as runners up to the finals on March 16.

The squad is: Katie Lee, Nikki Hayes, Georgia Mayor, Louise Anderson, Jordan Balazs, Vicky Bayley, Jenny Higham, Abbie Kitcher, Millie Mayor and Emily Oliver.
