SPRINGFIELDS men’s 1sts sealed the North West Hockey League Division Five North North title in style by thumping local rivals Preston men’s 4ths 12-1 at home.

The home side did not waste any time and immediately took control of the game, registering their first shot within just 30 seconds.
Springs opened the scoring when Harry Tomkins drove down the back line and pulled the ball back to Tom Davidson, who skilfully swept home.
Kristian Brandwood doubled the hosts’ tally with a fine solo run. He stormed past a few Preston defenders before flicking into the goal.
Tomkins again turned provider, striking the ball across the goal for Oli Miles to convert on the post.
Springs added two more before half-time as Conrad Williamson and Jay Mayne fired home.
After the break, Springs went in search of their 100th goal of the season and they did not have to wait long as they increased their tally in direct fashion.
Matt Banks sent an aerial ball straight into the area and Jonny Kilmartin smashed the ball, first time, into the goal.
Springfields were relentless and continued to press for more goals and Tomkins bagged another assist, setting up Brandwood for his second.
Moments later Tomkins created yet another goal as he set up Jay Mayne for the eighth goal of the game.
The home side continued to dominate the game and added a further four goals as Banks, Mayne, Miles and Tomkins scored.
