Glory boys: Fishwick Rangers celebrate at the StreetGames Football Pools Fives

Preston side Fishwick Rangers have won the StreetGames Football Pools Fives tournament in Manchester.

The event marked the start of The Football Pools partnership with the charity StreetGames in a funding deal worth £2m to create a the new football programme. The Football Pools is working with StreetGames to use football to enhance the lives of young people in disadvantaged areas and have a positive impact on their local communities.

The StreetGames Football Pools Fives programme will provide opportunities for young men and women from disadvantaged areas of the UK, aged 16 and over, to play five-a-side football and to also experience coaching and try a range of other sports and activities.

Speaking at the launch, former England and Manchester United star Viv Anderson said: “The StreetGames Football Pools Fives programme offers a fantastic opportunity for young people to get involved in a sport that has the ability to both educate and inspire.”
