Preston v Morecambe friendly cancelled

Preston North End have had to re-jig their build-up programme after the planned friendly with Morecambe on Saturday July 31 was cancelled.

The Shrimps’ new Globe Arena, which was to be officially opened by PNE’s visit, won’t be ready now until next month, with friendlies against Bolton and Manchester City also falling by the wayside.

North End will instead play Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park on July 31, that game put back from its original date of July 27.

Ferguson said: “It was important we got things re-organised quickly, we needed a match the week before the start of the season.

“We’ll try and get a game organised for the midweek when we were originally going to play Oldham.”

The revised handover date for the Globe Arena will now be August 6.

And the first game to be played there will be Coventry’s visit in the Carling Cup on August 10.

It was only a kid......It's like a bit overhearing one asking - "Why does that man look mad, mum?"......... Kids can be rather brutal in displaying the lack of their diplomacy skills.
