MEET THE BOSS:

Kenny Jackett was named as Wolves boss on May 31, 2013, succeeding the sacked Dean Saunders.

He is the 17th longest-serving manager in the English game, three places behind his PNE counterpart Simon Grayson. Jackett previously managed Swansea, Watford and Millwall. When in charge at the New Den, he guided Millwall to promotion and to the semi-finals of the FA Cup. In Jackett’s first season in charge of Wolves, he guided them to the League One title. Last season, they missed out on the play-offs by one place.

MEET THE REF:

Somerset referee Kevin Johnson is the man in the midde for PNE’s clash with Wolves at Molineux. It is the first time Johnson has taken charge of a Preston game, this his second season on the Football League list. He refereed Cardiff’s 0-0 draw with MK Dons last week.

THIS WEEK:

32 YEARS AGO:

This week in February 1984, Preston recorded a 2-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle at Deepdale. PNE’s goals came from centre-half Geoff Twentyman and winger Will Naughton.

28 YEARS AGO:

On February 13, North End fought out an exciting 2-2 draw with Sunderland at Deepdale. Brian Mooney and Gary Swann were on target for PNE against a Sunderland side which went on to finish as Third Division champions.

23 YEARS AGO:

Preston beat Brighton 1-0 at Deepdale on February 13, 1993. Micky Norbury headed the winner but the game was best remembered for a superb goalkeeping display from Glenn Johnstone. It was only his third game after signing from Lancaster. Johnstone’s son, Sam, was recently on loan at PNE.
