Graham Westley claims four of his Preston North End squad leaked details of his team selection to Sheffield Wednesday players before the 2-0 defeat at Hillsborough.
The PNE manager revealed that members of the Owls bench remarked to him during the second half of Saturday’s League One clash that they had been informed of the PNE side on Friday.
Westley said: “To stand in the dug out and be told by their dug out that four of our players yesterday had given our side across to them, says where this club is at.
“When you are looking for a level of winning togetherness, what you don’t need is four members of my squad releasing that information.
“I have to work on the basis that their bench wouldn’t tell me a lie.
“To hear that at 5pm on Friday they got that news, shows what we are up against.
“It doesn’t surprise me in some ways it has happened, considering what has been happening here.
“At times it pays to let people know the type of stuff that goes on in a losing environment.
“It’s my job to sort it out and put a stop to it.
“This is not an excuse for the defeat, and I’ll overcome it.”
Two second-half goals from Gary Madine gave Wednesday their win, with North End rarely threatening going forward.
Westley’s team selection saw Craig Morgan, Max Ehmer and Aaron Brown included in the starting XI - Brown starting up front despite being a centre-half by trade.
North End slipped to 16th in the table following their second defeat on the bounce, and there’s now only six points between them and Wycombe in 21st place.
