Swindon Town sack former Preston North End boss Phil Brown after poor start to League Two season

Former Preston North End boss Phil Brown has been sacked as manager of Swindon Town.

Brown was in charge of PNE for 11 months, being sacked back in December 2011 shortly after failing to keep North End in the Championship.

The 59-year-old was handed the Swindon hotseat in March following the departure of David Flitcroft to Mansfield.

Assistant manager Neil McDonald has also followed Brown out of the door.

A statement on Town's official website read: "Swindon Town Football Club can today confirm that Phil Brown has been relieved of his duties as first-team manager.

"Assistant manager Neil McDonald will also be leaving the club with immediate effect.

"Swindon Town Football Club would like to put on record its thanks for the efforts of Phil and Neil in their time at SN1, and wish them all the best in their future endeavours."
