Discussions are still ongoing about a role for Preston North End’s veteran striker Kevin Davies.

Davies’ two-year contract is up in July but Deepdale boss Simon Grayson is talking to the 38-year-old about his future.

The manager told the club website this week: “We are in discussions with Kevin Davies about a role at the football club in terms of playing
and possibly a coaching capacity.

“It’s a busy time. A disappointing time for some, a good time for others,
but it’s what happens at football clubs and you have to move on.”

As well as player announcements over the forthcoming week, North End fans should look out for the pre-season fixture list being released.

So far, the only confirmed pre-season clash is against Chorley at Victory Park on Saturday, July, 11.

North End will travel to defend the Jack Kirkland Trophy they hold after last summer’s 3-2 win.

The annual fixture against another local non-league side Bamber Bridge at their Sir Tom Finney Stadium is also set to be announced when the list is revealed.
