MEET THE BOSS:

Carlos Carvalhal became Sheffield Wednesday’s head coach on June 30, replacing Stuart Gray who had been sacked earlier that month.

The Owls are the 15th club which Carvalhal has coached, including Sporting Lisbon, Braga, Beira-Mar, Espinho, Belenenses and Martitimo in his native Portugal. He has also taken charge of Turkish side Besiktas and Asteras Tripoli in Greece. As a player, Carvalhal was a centre-back for a number of clubs. He had three spells with Braga – where he started his career – and played briefly for Porto.

MEET THE REF:

Northamptonshire referee Andy Woolmer is in charge of PNE’s visit to Sheffield Wednesday. He was the man in the middle for Preston’s 1-0 win over Rochdale in April, a game in which he kept his cards in his pocket. This is Mr Woolmer’s eighth game of the campaign.
