Preston North End don't know when they are beaten judging by the fact for the second away game in a row they have scored a stoppage-time equaliser.

It was Aiden McGeady popping up in the 93rd minute at Blackburn this weekend, following-on from Tom Barhuizen scoring even later in the day against Derby the other week.

It is testament to North End’s fitness levels that they have scored these late goals. When the clock is ticking in injury-time, your legs hurt and you are really having to dig deep – whatever position you play in.

So to have the energy to make a late run and get on the end of something is really good to see.

The visit to Ewood Park was probably a lot harder than the league table might have suggested.

Blackburn are down in the bottom three but they are unbeaten in seven games since Tony Mowbray went in there.

So perhaps it wasn’t a bad point for North End and they are still very much in with a sniff of the play-offs.

The gap is down to five points, and with eight games to go the last month of the season is going to be an exciting one.

A week ago, you would have put your mortgage on Fulham romping into the top six – they had just beaten Newcastle.

Since then, they have drawn with Blackburn and lost to Wolves.

Sheffield Wednesday have been dropping points and that happens when you are up there to be shot at.

Sometimes it is easier to do the chasing than to be chased.

I’ve noticed a few times that Simon Grayson has said the pressure isn’t on North End as much as it is on other teams in the mix.

I tend to agree, there are clubs up there who have spent a fortune and have to justify that expense.

Don’t get me wrong, the players and management staff will be putting pressure on themselves and wanting the best finish possible, but the external pressure isn’t there.

Grayson will be telling the players to concentrate on their own results and only look how others are doing once they get back to the dressing room.

To see McGeady’s name on the Preston scoresheet again this weekend was pleasing.

He was a bit closer in than normal but it must have a great moment to score in front of all those travelling North End supporters.

McGeady seems keen on coming back next season and PNE are very keen on him, so hopefully something will happen in the summer.

It is a similar scenario to when Paul Gallagher got into the last year of his contract with Leicester and came back on loan to Deepdale to see that season through.

McGeady isn’t going to play at Everton, so perhaps it is best all round that a deal gets sorted out for him to continue with North End.
