Ben Pringle believes his style of play will be better suited to Preston North End than it was with previous Fulham.

The midfielder joined PNE from the Cottagers and is due a quick reunion with them on Tuesday afternoon when the clubs meet in a friendly in Ireland.

For Pringle, it was a move which came out of the blue but one he jumped at making.

“I played against Preston for Rotherham a few times and for Fulham last season, and they are the type of team who suit how I want to play,” Pringle told the Evening Post.

“Preston are a team who are solid, hard to beat, but like to get a lot of balls into the box for the strikers.

“That is my game, to get the ball in there and help create chances for the front lads.

“Coming here is a perfect opportunity to play football and it’s a challenge I’m very much looking forward to.

“When I was at Rotherham, we had four good games against Preston in one season.

“It is funny how football works out – a few years ago I was buzzing to go up to the Championship with Rotherham.

“Now I’m with Preston in the same division.

“Things didn’t quite work out in between when I went to Fulham last year.

“In the first couple of months I played most of the games and we were bubbling around near the play-offs.

“They changed the manager and that was really it, I went out on loan to Ipswich and really enjoyed it there.

“It was good to play for a couple of months ago and take that into this season.

“I don’t think Fulham suited my style of football, so it was the right time to move on.”

Pringle’s move from London was hardly a long, drawn-out affair, with it done in a matter of days.

He made his debut against Bamber Bridge in Friday’s friendly, then played again the following afternoon at Chorley.

Said Pringle: “It all came out of the blue a week last Thursday when I got a call asking if I fancied a move to Preston.

“I came up to have a look later that day and it was all done by the Monday.

“It was a hectic few days but I’m glad to be here.

“If someone gives you the opportunity to come and play football and says ‘listen, we really want you to sign’, you aren’t going to turn it down.

“When I spoke with the gaffer about coming here, he told me he sees me playing right across the midfield, whether that is putting balls in from the left or right, or being down the middle.”

Pringle will see his former Fulham team-mates over the next few days, with the clubs both staying at Fota Island near Cork.

The 26-year-old said: “It’s funny how things work out, with me only having just left.

“We play Fulham in the league early in the season which is fine.

“But to see the lads again so soon and to be staying in the same hotel will feel a bit strange.”
