From August to May, they will clock up 6,537 miles on the roads of England and Wales if they go to all 23 Championship away games.

The longest journey of the season is the 562-mile round trip to Brighton. North End visit the Amex Stadium on October 15, to face an Albion side beaten in the semi-finals of May’s play-offs.

The second-furthest trip is Ipswich on August 27, a game which is followed by the first international break of the campaign. It is a 510-mile round trip to Portman
Road.

Norwich City’s relegation from the Premier League means another long trip to East Anglia, Simon Grayson taking his side to Carrow Road in October.

Other round trips of 400 miles and more are Reading, Brentford, Fulham, Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff.

Much closer to home are the games against Blackburn and Wigan Athletic.

With Bolton having been relegated and Burnley promoted to the top flight, the Rovers and Wigan games are the two derbies.

There will be a first visit to Burton Albion for Preston on January 2, while the trips to Aston Villa and Newcastle will be keenly anticipated.

It is a long wait for the visit to Toon, though, on April 22.
