Preston North End striker Joe Garner has signed a new two-year contract at Deepdale.
The deal will keep the 26-year-old front man at PNE until the summer of 2016.
Negotiations with Garner’s agent over a new deal started during the close season and common ground was reached after the latest round of talks.
The lifelong North End supporter was the club’s leading scorer last season with 24 goals in all competitions.
And he has started the new campaign in razor-sharp form, scoring three goals in two starts.
Garner joined PNE in January 2013 on a free transfer from Watford and after taking time to find his feet has proved himself to be one of the sharpest finishers in League One.
Talking to the Evening Post after Saturday’s 4-0 win at Scunthorpe in which he netted twice, Garner spoke of his willingness to stay at North End.
He said: “Hopefully something will get done.
“I don’t want to go anywhere – it took me long enough to get here.
“I’m happy here and happy at home.”
