MEET THE BOSS: Mark Warburton

The 54-year-old was named Forest manager earlier this month, ex-PNE striker Gary Brazil having held the fort as caretaker boss since the dismissal of Philipe Montanier in January.

Warburton made his name as a manager with Brentford, guiding them to promotion from League One in 2014. He had previously been the Bees’ sporting director.

Warburton joined Rangers in the summer of 2015 and guided them back to the Scottish Premiership in his first season. He was sacked by them in February.

MEET THE REF: Stephen Martin

The Staffordshire referee will take charge of his fourth PNE game this season when he is in the middle for Nottingham Forest’s visit to Deepdale on Saturday. Mr Martin refereed September’s 3-0 win over Cardiff, the 1-0 victory at Norwich and January’s 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town.

This will be his 34th game of the campaign. In December he refereed Forest’s 2-1 win over Newcastle, sending off two Magpies players – both cards was later rescinded.

26 years ago: On March 30, 1991, PNE won 5-1 against Crewe at Deepdale. There were five different scorers with Martin James, Warren Joyce, Dave Thompson, Ian Bogie and Graham Shaw on target for Les Chapman’s outfit.
