Text alert for PNE
Communication: New boss Graham Westley, pictured at Meadow Lane last night, sent texts in the early hours before the Leyton Orient game
Graham Westley has brushed off the controversy surrounding his use of text messages to communicate with the Preston North End players.
The Deepdale boss, who picked up his first point in charge of PNE in last night’s 0-0 draw against Notts County at Meadow Lane, found himself in the headlines after texting his squad during the early hours before last Saturday’s game with Leyton Orient.
Westley’s text, which included his intended team for the Orient match, was leaked, drawing some criticism of his methods.
But he told the Evening Post: “There are no issues as far as I’m concerned.
“Communication is done in multiple ways these days, we all communicate by email, by text, by phone and in person.
“The fact that some communication happened between a manager and his players is all part and parcel of the modern environment.
“There is no big deal for me.
“I have always communicated in all sorts of different ways, and I have no plans in stopping communicating with people.”
