Getting shirty for the PNE cause

A group of Preston North End fans are getting all-shirty ahead of Sunday's vital Championship play-off clash.

Preston Supporters' Group are planning to mimic Ross Wallace's goal celebration, which saw him sent off in the 2-1 win at Birmingham last week.

The group will be taking off their shirts and waving them around their heads to help spur on the Lilywhites.

Wallace was dismissed after a second yellow card after he took his shirt off celebrating his spectacular winnner.

The dismissal means the tricky winger will miss tomorrow's game but the fans will make sure he's not forgotten.

And they're inviting all the North End fans to join in with the fun.

Geoff Ollerton, chairman of PSG, said: "It's a member's idea to just get the atmosphere going and to show Wallace we don't like the rule that he's been sent off for.

"We've got in touch with people on the forum and there's quite a few who like the idea and say they'll join in."

The idea came from John Hayes, a member of PSG, who added: "I wanted to make it a giggle, let's make it something we can have fun with – let's call it a Wallace day!

"We can make it fortress Deepdale again and get the fans going. Within less than 48 hours we have got this theme up and running."

Midfielder Lee Williamson will also miss the game after his red card appeal was turned down by the FA on Wednesday.
