MEET THE BOSS

Paul Clement was named Derby County head coach in June, succeeding Steve McClaren.

The 43-year-old never played football as a professional but has enjoyed a good career in coaching. He worked at Chelsea’s academy and ,after a brief spell with Fulham, returned to Stamford Bridge where he was promoted to the first-team staff under Guus Hiddink. Clement became Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant at Chelsea, following the Italian to Paris St Germain and Real Madrid. During his time with Real, they won La Liga.

MEET THE REF

PNE beware – Richard Clark is in charge of Derby’s visit to Deepdale. He has awarded four penalties against Preston in the previous two games he officiated. He gave two in the 2-2 draw with Port Vale in April and two more in July’s pre-season friendly at Carlisle.
