Preston North End have signed Port Vale striker Jordan Hugill on a two-year contract.
The 22-year-old moves to Deepdale for an undisclosed compensation fee - Hugill was out of contract at Vale Park but the Valiants were entitled to compensation because he is under 24.
Hugill joined Vale last summer from Northern League side Marske United, and spent the early part of the 2013/14 campaign on loan at Gateshead.
On his return to Vale Park, he scored five goals - including in Vale’s 3-2 defeat to North End on New Year’s Day - and was voted their young player of the year.
PNE boss Simon Grayson said: “He’s not a household name, but what he is, he’s going to be competition for the squad.”
Hugill is the third signing of the summer following on from goalkeeper Jamie Jones and defender Calum Woods.
