Preston North End boss Simon Grayson and his players felt a little deflated after suffering their first defeat of the season.

Despite a very good performance, especially in the first half, PNE were beaten 2-1 at Deepdale against early season Championship pacesetter Ipswich Town.

A goal against the run of play from from Brett Pitman put the Tractor Boys a goal up in the first half but Daniel Johnson equalised shortly after

The home side were beaten though thanks to a stunning winning goal from Ryan Fraser after the break.

“The dressing room’s a little deflated,” said Grayson.

“I’m pleased with the lads because when you lose a football match, you want the opposition to have earned the right to win the match.

“I think their manager Mick McCarthy will suggest that they have been slightly fortunate to have won given the start we had and the way we played.

“We come up against a strong experienced team full of experienced professionals.

“We will learn from it but I’m pleased especially with what we did in that first 30 minutes.”
