Pick yourselves up for key double-header
Darren Ferguson has told his dejected Preston North End players to pick themselves up in readiness for a Deepdale double-header against Sheffield United and Blackpool this week.
North End suffered their second defeat in five days at the weekend when they were beaten 2-0 by Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
It was a wretched performance from Ferguson's side, with them mustering just one scoring chance all game.
The PNE boss thinks that display, and last week's loss to Barnsley, was very much down to a shortage of confidence.
And rediscovering some self-belief, in Ferguson's view, will be key to picking up some much-needed Championship points.
There's likely to be new addition to the squad with the loan market now open to Football League clubs.
North End have been strongly linked with Manchester United's teenage midfielder Matt James, the Bacup-born player looking likely to follow Danny Welbeck from Old Trafford to Deepdale.
An addition to the squad would be welcome in light of recent results and the busy spell of games PNE find themselves in the midst of.
Sheffield United are the visitors tomorrow, before Blackpool arrive for a lunchtime showdown on Saturday.
North End go to Derby County a week tomorrow, then go to league leaders Newcastle United five days later.
Ferguson said: "The lads have to believe in themselves.
"We have two big home games coming up, Sheffield United tomorrrow then the derby against Blackpool, it's important we get results in both."
