Bamber Bridge assistant boss Neil Reynolds called on the Brig players to up their game or risk losing their shirt.

Brig are still yet to win a NPL First Division North league game this season and are 14 points off leaders Northwich Victoria in 18th place.

And Renno says boss Neil Crowe is set to make changes for tonight’s game against Trafford at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium after Brig’s ‘lack lustre’ second half performance in the 1-1 draw with Farsley Celtic on Saturday.

He said: “I’m disappointed. To be honest we felt a bit let down on Saturday.

“It came on the back of a good win in the FA Cup and for whatever reason it was a lack lustre performance.

“We didn’t come out in the second half. The lads have realised they have under performed.

“If we want to go where we want to go in the league we can’t play like that.

“We have practically got our whole squad back so competition for places is going to hot up.

“The lads can’t put in a bad performance and expect to keep their shirt.

“I’d like to apologise that we didn’t put in the right performance for the fans on Saturday but we are hoping to bounce back tonight.”

After the game against Trafford Crowe’s men will attempt to reach the next round of the FA Cup when they travel to Goole FC.

Crowe said he was equally unhappy with his side’s performance against Celtic but hopes the cup can prove a welcome distraction to their current league form.

The Brig boss also revealed former PNE striker Brett Ormerod is close to a return to the starting XI.

He said: ““It is a game I thought we should have won but we did not do enough to win the game.

“We are creating chances, just not finishing them, we just can’t buy a win at the moment. Brett is 50/50 for tonight. Every team wants a good run in the FA Cup and we are hoping for one.”
