Bamber Bridge have signed former Preston striker Jon Macken.

The veteran centre forward joins ex-North End team-mate Paul McKenna at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium.

The 37-year-old has been without a club since being released by Stockport County in 2013.

Macken joined Preston from Manchester United and went on to make more than 200 appearances, scoring 74 goals, before being signed by Manchester City in 2002 for £5m.

He later went on to have spells with a host of clubs, including Crystal Palace, Barnsley and Walsall.

Macken is set to make his Brig debut in the NPL First Division North against Darlington 1883 on Saturday.
