Villa move for Pompey defender?

Aston Villa have been linked to Portsmouth's former Tottenham and Arsenal defender Sol Campbell.

The Sun has reported that Villa boss Martin O'Neill needs an experienced centre-back after seeing Martin Laursen, 31, retire through injury.

The 34-year-old former England man is said to have been offered a new deal to stay at Portsmouth on reduced wages of around 40,000 a week.

But the prospect of playing Europa League football with Villa next season is the big pull.
