Spurs to take £5m loss on midfielder
Tottenham Hotspur are ready to take a £5million loss on Younes Kaboul, according to reports.
The Sun newspaper claims that boss Juande Ramos is yet to recieve any bids for the centre-back despite slashing his asking price to 3m.
The Frenchman cost Spurs 8m last year after joining from Auxerre.
Meanwhile, Croatia midfielder Niko Kranjcar has tipped Luka Modric to follow in the footsteps of Cesc Fabregas and prove size does not matter in the Premier League.
Modric has agreed to join Tottenham for 16.5million from Dinamo Zagreb, with fans getting a glimpse of him at Euro 2008 when he scored the winner against co-hosts Austria.
Croatia coach Slaven Bilic believes only Kaka is currently better than his playmaker, with the only concern being whether his slight build can cope with the physical demands of English football.
"That is what they say about Fabregas," said Kranjcar, who adapted to the Premier League himself when he joined Portsmouth from Hajduk Split two years ago.
"Luka runs the game and he's a great player.
"We'll see a lot of him next season. He's got all the potential to have a lot of success. Of course you need a bit of luck but with the couple of good games on the trot he has every opening to make it.
"It will suit Spurs with their Spanish manager (Juande Ramos) and the way they play and dominate at home. It will suit him and I'm sure they know who they bought and why they bought him. I don't believe he will have any problems."
Kranjcar added: "Hopefully he will be very big in this tournament, I believe he can be one of the stars of the tournament and we will all try to help him become that."
Croatia, however, struggled after Modric's penalty at Ernst Happel Stadium against Austria and face a huge test on Thursday when they meet Germany in Klagenfurt.
Modric said: "We had to win to get our campaign on the right track but we have to move up a gear and I am sure we will be a different side in the remaining group matches."
Bilic's side have been billed as the dark horses of the tournament but Austria, ranked 92nd in the world, gave them a real scare in Vienna.
"Winning was the only positive," Kranjcar said.
"We were in total control of the game in the first half but did not get the second goal.
"We're not thinking about winning it, just getting to the quarter-finals first. Anything can happen as this tournament has shown in the past, we believe we can damage anyone on a given day but you are not dreaming of winning it yet."
Kranjcar admits his side have to come to terms with the loss of Eduardo following the Arsenal striker's sickening ankle injury in February.
"Any team would miss him and Arsenal missed him in the last three months of the season," the midfielder added.
"Of course Croatia will miss him but you live without him and try to play football and make up for him not being in the team."
