Eager to play again: Barry Roche

Morecambe manager Jim Bentley will be looking for a response from his side this evening when they host Aldershot at the Globe Arena.

The Shrimps saw their long unbeaten home record come to an end in disappointing fashion on Saturday when they were beaten 3-0 by play-off chasing Exeter City.

The Shots are currently inside the relegation zone in League Two – nine points behind Morecambe but with a game in hand.

Bentley will be hoping his men can avoid being dragged into a relegation battle by collecting all three points tonight.

The Shrimps, though, will have to be wary as Aldershot, who are managed by former Wimbledon and Bolton Wanderers striker Dean Holdsworth, have picked up more points on their travels than they have at the Recreation Ground.

The first match between the pair this season ended in a goalless draw in September.

Morecambe goalkeeper Barry Roche is pleased that he and his team-mates have a game so soon to get Saturday’s disappointment out of their minds.

“It’s a good thing that we have a game coming around so quickly,” he said.

“It’s always hard when you have a bad performance and bad result on the Saturday to have to wait a full week before you can go again.

“We’ve got a big game coming up tonight and we’ll be hoping to put things right.

“We’ve been performing really well at home recently and we let ourselves down badly on Saturday.

“We did not take our chances and they did.”
