McIlroy's frustration in Connerton chase
Morecambe and neighbours Lancaster City are locked in a stand-off over goal sensation Jordan Connerton.
Shrimps boss Sammy McIlroy has registered his interest in the 20-year-old Lancaster-born striker, who is also wanted by Rochdale, Bury and Motherwell.
But a frustrated McIlroy claims he has heard nothing from the Giant Axe board.
McIlroy said: "We are interested in Jordan and we'd like to bring him to Christie Park if we can get something done.
"We spoke to their manager Tony Hesketh and had a good conversation with him about doing something. Apparently their committee are aware of that conversation now, but we've had no response at all from the Lancaster people and that's very disappointing.
"It would not be a massive risk for them to talk to us and to see what's on the table.
"You would have thought they might have got in touch, but that's up to them."
Morecambe have kept an eagle eye on Connerton, who has blasted in 28 goals for the UniBond North leaders this term.
But McIlroy has other targets in mind too as he bids to beef up his squad for a League Two promotion tilt.
"I'd like to bring a couple in this month, just to give us a bit of extra strength in depth," he added.
