Paul Gallagher has rejoined Preston North End on a season-long loan from Leicester City.
The 29-year-old attacker spent seven months on loan with the Lilywhites last term, scoring 10 goals in 32 starts and three substitute appearances.
North End had been in communication with Leicester all summer about bringing Gallagher back to Deepdale.
He began pre-season training with PNE on Thursday and the formalities of the deal have now been completed.
There is no recall clause in the loan, allowing Gallagher to stay with Preston uninterrupted for the whole of 2014-15.
Gallagher, who lives locally, started his career with Blackburn Rovers.
In the 2007/08 season he spent four months on loan at North End, then at the end of October last year, PNE boss Simon Grayson brought him back on loan.
Grayson identified him as one of his targets for this summer, with him able to play in a wide role or off the mark striker.
“It was something we were looking to do with Paul over the summer,” said Grayson.
“He made it very clear to us that he wanted to come back and after negotiations with Leicester it is a done deal for the season.
“We are grateful to Leicester for letting him come here.”
