Preston North End will face Nottingham Forest – managed by their ex-boss Billy Davies – if they beat Ipswich Town in next week’s FA Cup replay.
The Lilywhites drew 1-1 with Ipswich at Portman Road on Saturday, Kevin Davies netting their equaliser after David McGoldrick had given the Tractor Boys the lead four minutes earlier.
They replay on Tuesday, January 14 at Deepdale, with an away tie at the City Ground awaiting the winners.
Forest romped to a 5-0 win over Premier League strugglers West Ham in the third round on Sunday.
PNE boss Simon Grayson felt that his side had given a good account of themselves against Ipswich and done enough to win the tie.
Grayson said: “I think a replay was the least we deserved in terms of the overall game.
“We controlled the first half for long periods with some good football and were resilient.
“After conceding a stupid penalty from our point of view, we showed some good attributes to get back into the game quickly.
“Before the game we would have taken a draw but we were slightly disappointed not to have won it.”
If North End beat Ipswich, the fourth round clash at Forest would be played on the weekend on January 25/26.
