Midfielder Akil Wright has moved back to his parent club Fleetwood Town after his month-long loan at AFC Fylde came to an end.
The Coasters were keen to extend the deal, but Fleetwood, under new management, have recalled him.
AFC Fylde manager Dave Challinor, preparing his side for the visit of Barrow on Saturday in the fourth and final qualifying round of the FA Cup, said: “We looked to try and do something to keep Akill, but he has gone back to Fleetwood.
“He is on the fringes of the first team there, but if there are any injuries at Fleetwood, he could be one of the next ones in.
“But if a situation developed that he was not getting into the Fleetwood team and he was willing to come back to us, we would love to have him.
“But we will cross that bridge when we come to it.”
For the clash with Barrow, Fylde will be without Sam Finley, who is suspended, while Brad Barnes is doubtful, having treatment on a neck injury.
The draw for the first round proper of the FA Cup will take place on BBC2 at 7pm on Monday.
