Chorley Ladies trounced newly-promoted side Blackpool Wren ladies 5-0.

After last week’s postponements, the game began with both teams adjusting to the boggy surface.

Passing was difficult but Chorley put together some good inter-linking play.

Midway through the first half, Ruth Harrison played a ball to Vicky Coope, who crossed teed-up Sam Cadwallader to open the scoring.

Soon after, Chorley gained momentum, and Charlotte Higginson added a second with a low, hard shot from the edge of the penalty box.

Minutes before the half-time whistle, Harrison and Coope linked up again, this time resulting in Coope turning the defender and hitting from distance, lobbing the keeper, giving Chorley a comfortable 3-0 half-time lead.

Blackpool started the second half with a fighting spirit.

Chorley keeper Jo Phillips had a quiet game, but she was called into action minutes into the second period, and she responded well by making an excellent diving save to her right.

Saskia Bowes and Janet Mitchell remained solid and prevented any potential attacks from the Seasiders across the second half.

Chorley were comfortable, passing the ball around and playing with confidence.

Natalie Parry then added the fourth Chorley goal with a perfect chip shot over the keeper’s head.

Coope added to the misery for Blackpool with a third emphatic lob of the afternoon to complete her hat-trick.

It was an excellent demonstration of teamwork and spirit from the Chorley side.

The result leaves Chorley fourth in the Northern Division One table.

Next week Chorley travel to the North East to play Chester-le-Street.
