Morecambe and Dagenham will have to face each other for a second time for a place in round two of the FA Cup after they could not be separated at Victoria Road.
The two League Two sides fought out a low key 0-0 draw with both teams struggling to create chances in a poor game played in front of less than 1,000 people.
The Shrimps started the game on the front foot with League Two player of the month Shaun Miller playing in Aaron Wildig down the left hand side but he could only direct his final shot straight at home keeper Mark Cousins.
Dagenham’s first effort of note came from a Morecambe mistake when Andy Parrish got caught out by a long ball but was rescued by a smart intervention from goalkeeper Barry Roche who read the danger well and raced from his goal to save at the feet of Jamie Cureton.
Roche was soon in action again with a flying save from home winger Jake Mulraney who let fly with a well struck shot from the right hand side of the area for the final effort of the half.
Morecambe had their best spell of the game at the start of the second half with Alan Goodall being the first to threaten with a shot that flew inches over the bar from the left hand side.
Tom Barkhuizen then forced home keeper Cousins into his best save of the game with a near post volley from Jamie Devitt’s corner which was set for the bottom left hand corner.
Devitt again provided the ammunition with another excellent corner which was met by Alex Kenyon but the midfielder could only volley over from 12 yards.
Substitute Lee Molyneux forced Cousins into a far from convincing save when he let fly with a 35 yarder that again from long range with a shot that the keeper held at the second attempt.Dagenham’s best moments came from right back Justin Hoyte.
The Trinidad and Tobago international worked an opening for himself with a clever one-two on the edge of the box and produced a fierce right foot shot that Roche did well to tip away.
As the game entered the final stages Ryan Edwards came within a whisker of converting a Molyneux corner that flew across the Daggers’ six yard box but neither side could find the winner to force a replay at the Globe Arena.
