Brig welcome the NPL Premier Division side to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium for a mouth-watering quarter-final clash.

Although he has not given up hope of a late push for the play-offs in the NPL First Division North, Reynolds accepts the cup represents the best opportunity for his men to finish the season with some silverware.

Tonight’s tie will not be easy though as United are a division higher and will start the match as clear favourites.

However, after victory over title challengers Farsley Celtic at home on Saturday, Brig are in good shape to upset the odds.

And if they were to get the better of Ashton, they would face Buxton – also of the Premier Division – at home in the semi-finals.

“Tonight is amassive game for us,” said Reynolds. “I want to win the League Cup and we are focused absolutely on beating Ashton.

“It’s going to be a difficult challenge, but we want to achieve things at Bamber Bridge and put some silverware in the trophy cabinet.

“If you look at our last two results at home, we are in good shape.

“Our crowd is great and we enjoy playing at home, especially when we are attacking the clubhouse end.

“The fans have been great recently, they can see what we are building and hopefully, they will come out in numbers again and make it a really good atmosphere.

“Ashton are a good side. They are like a league table above us because we are both in a mid-table position.”

Brig’s terrific 2-0 win over Farsley came at cost with Phil Doughty (heel) and Regan Linney (ankle) were both substituted and are unlikely to be fit for tonight.

Reynolds also has a decision to make in goal after Lloyd Rigby performed impressively on Saturday after replacing the suspended Steven James.
