Great Eccleston won the Moore and Smalley Palace Shield’s Meyler Cup final, beating Penwortham by seven wickets.

Hosts Great Ecc won the toss and put Penwortham in to bat.

Man of the match Will Thistlethwaite returned figures of 5-33 as Penwortham struggled to 119-9 in 39.2
overs after Andrew Tobutt had retired on 35.

Martyn Brierley weighed in with 29 for Penwortham.

But Thistlethwaite was in devastating form with the
ball.

Thistlethwaite then clubbed an unbeaten 48 as Great Eccleston knocked off the runs in just 29 overs.

Oliver Parkinson also made 47 not out, though Penwortham’s Neil Patel did make some inroads, claiming 3-19.
