The stars were out for the city’s big night, when the Walker Smith Way Preston Sports Awards, in association with Preston Guild Hall, were handed out.
Former badminton ace Gail Emms MBE was guest speaker and the ex-World champion and Olympic silver medallist gave an inspirational talk.
The event began with a show-stopping celebration of the achievements of Preston’s clubs, volunteers and competitors over the last 10 years, with swimmer Stephanie Slater and boxer Scott Fitzgerald among those recognised for their recent achievements.
The 2015 awards saw the judges faced with a high calibre of nominations.
The event was opened by the Mayor of Preston, Cllr Nicholas Pomfret and hosted by Paul Crone.
There was also a spectacular performance from the City of Preston Gymnastics Club.
The finale of the evening saw Pete Hancock being recognised for his commitment and tireless work for Preston Harriers.
Hancock has been coaching for 23 years at the club. At a conservative estimate, the total number of hours spent coaching probably surpasses 9,000 hours.
