Isaac Lowe’s trainer believes his man’s English featherweight title fight is just the start of a big ring career.

Bob Howard has been with the unbeaten Westgate Warrior since his amateur days and will lead Lowe (below) into battle against Jamie Speight at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on September 5.

The fight is part of a major Sky Sports bill that sees home favourite Josh Warrington defend his Commonwealth and WBC International titles against Australia’s Joel Brunker.

Howard said: “He’s only a baby – he’s only 21.

“Isaac’s not matured yet properly as a boxer. He’s got a good few years of learning to come.

“He’s mentally maturing, we’re trying to calm him down in the ring and we’re slowly getting there.

“Isaac has only had 10 fights and he’s coming into his own now. The English title is the start of things.”

After the disappointment of an aborted English title fight in April, when opponent Lee Glover failed to make the weight, news of Lowe’s major televised debut has been a big boost.

Howard said: “Last time he was boxing for an English title it didn’t happen.

“He had to box another kid Jamie Quinn and did pick up another belt but some of the excitement was lost through that. It’s doubly exciting now though with it being on a big Josh Warrington show.

“I’ve been in that arena a few times and the Leeds
massive are fantastic. For Isaac to get in there on that bill is brilliant.”

Howard is confident his charge, 10-0 as a professional, will shine on his big night.

The former Lancaster Boxing Academy trainer said: “We’ve been sparring with Jamie Speight a few times a couple of years back now.

“He’s an accomplished boxer who knows what he’s doing. But we’ve got a game-plan to beat him and I think we’ll do it quite comfortably.”

A coach will be running from Lancaster and Morecambe for the fight. For tickets call Howard on 07951 191717.
