Chorley boxer Jack Catterall faces a big night in his young career tomorrow evening when he makes his debut under Frank Warren’s Queensbury Promotions Label.
The 19-year-old light-welterweight takes on Poland’s Krzysztof Szot on the undercard of the Derry Mathews versus Martin Gethin bout at the Olympia Arena in Liverpool.
Catterall signed a two-year contract with Warren earlier this year and tomorrow’s fight will be his first eight-rounder.
After knocking out Aleksas Vaseris in the first round of his last bout at the Bowler’s Arena, in Manchester, the southpaw will be full of confidence when he gets in the ring with Szot.
The experienced 35-year-old Pole has lost 12 and drawn one of 31 professional fights, while Catterall has yet to taste defeat in seven bouts.
Catterall, who has sparred with Amir Khan, said: “Preparations have gone very well. I’ve sparred with Amir – you couldn’t ask for better preparation and it gives me loads of confidence.”
