Bowls: Eyes on finale at Wigan

North Lancs & Fylde players dominate the finals night of the Wigan Subscription Club open.

In the first semi-final, Lee Heaton (Brownedge Saints) plays Simon Coupe (Hoghton), while in the second semi-final, Mark Britton (Wigan) will be taking on Wayne Ditchfield (Hoghton).

Preston's Joan Jolly was in fine form in the Isle Of Man June Festival. The St Joseph's and Lancs ace reached the final before losing 21-13 to Joyce Foxcroft (Kings Arms, Hale).

In the Premier Division of the Ted Carter & Son Preston and District League, Hoghton are now 25 points clear of Leyland Sports.

Saints remain a point behind third-placed Ramblers, who lost 7-5 at Bridge Inn.

In Division One, Lostock Cons B won 10-3 at Longridge Cons to go 29 points clear of Farington Cons, who had no game. Frenchwood A are a further 11 points behind in third place.

The promotion race in Division Two is hotting up, with three clubs in close contention for the second spot.

Runaway leaders Kirkham are now 43 points clear following their 11-2 win at second-placed St Bernard's (74). Next come Lonsdale (72) and Leyland & Farington (71).

In Division Three, Empire B took full advantage of Hoghton's cancelled game to go top by four points.
