Last week saw the last of the Badger 10K series staged in the stunning undulating grounds of Cuerden Valley Park.
Leading the Preston Harriers charge was Andrew Newton who paced himself well to power through the field over the second 5K to attain third place overall in 38.06.
Neil McDonald put in a determined effort to claim eighth overall in 39.59 with Mark Lee pushing all the way for first MV50 in 40.24 to also guarantee the men’s team prize over Southport AC with equal points, on countback.
Harriers’ runners continued to stream through with Mike Burnham (44.51), Jenny Gornall (46.53), Peter Carter (47.18), Dave Wakefield (51.36), Phil Lakeland (53.58) and Kate Lakeland (56.59) coming home to complete the Preston team.
A resurgent David Watson acquitted himself admirably whilst taking to the seafront course of the Blackpool Air Show 10K.
Using the event to test himself prior to upcoming Scottish national events, Watson stormed the line in 36.21 for sixth overall and first MV45.
