A woman who cheated her local council out of £3,784 in benefits has been given a 12-month conditional discharge.
Caroline Ashcroft, of Hedgerows Road in Leyland, near Preston, pleaded guilty to the charges at a hearing at South Ribble Magistrates Court.

The 37-year-old had separated from her partner but continued to receive financial assistance from him, meaning she was not eligible for the benefit she had claimed.

She has been forced to repay all the money.
