Preston is set to bloom this summer thanks to a bumper lottery win.
The Lancashire Wildlife Trust's Preston's Blooming Brilliant! project will ensure the city lives up to its Proud Preston motto after landing a grant of almost £250,000 from the Big Lottery Fund.

It means the work already achieved in Preston can continue as local communities join together to cultivate gardens and flowerbeds, get involved in cleaning and greening streets and roll up their sleeves to work on larger local regeneration projects.

The £224,639 grant from the Reaching Communities scheme will also support all the local groups that have made environmental improvements in the past two years, including residents, youth groups, schools and churches.

Daveen Wallis, community projects manager at the Lancashire Wildlife Trust, said: "The whole team working on community projects in Preston are absolutely delighted to be receiving this funding for continuation and development of our work with community groups in achieving Britain In Bloom awards."
