The centre-half will have to reinforce his sideboard to take the strain of five player of the year trophies awarded to him in the past week.

He kicked-off his collection of silverware last weekend when the Official Supporters Club, the Preston Supporters Group and PNE On-Line voted the 23-year-old as their best player of the campaign.

And then on Wednesday night, St Ledger was crowned the club's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year at a lavish ceremony held in Deepdale's Great Room.

The former Peterborough player was delighted to be honoured by fans and players alike, and admitted it came as something of a surprise.

St Ledger told the Evening Post: "It's nice to be recognised and I'd like to say a big thank-you to the fans for voting for me.

"That means a lot and it's just a shame they've not had too much success to cheer about this season – I'd have gladly swapped any personal award for a shot at the play-offs.

"It was great to pick up the Players' Player of the Year award too, the squad here is a great set of lads with everyone getting on well together.

"I voted for Andrew Lonergan, I thought he's done really well this season, while Callum Davidson has been excellent and I thought he might have won a few awards.

"But it's hard to pick out individuals after the form we've shown since January – it's been a team effort to get ourselves out of trouble."
