Aberdeen star Barry Nicholson helped crush Glasgow Rangers' title hopes on Thursday night and then flashed a message to Preston North End: "Come and get me!"
The midfielder is heading for England as a free agent, with PNE reported to be one of the favourites to land him.
But after playing a key role in the Dons' 2-0 win over Walter Smith's side at Pittodrie, Nicholson said: "I'm just waiting on a decent offer now."
The 29-year-old schemer has been linked with several clubs south of the border since rejecting a new deal at Aberdeen and announcing he wanted to try his hand in the English game.
Preston, Plymouth Argyle, newly-promoted Nottingham Forest and relegated Leicester City have all been named as suitors by the Scottish media.
But up to last night no one had made a firm offer for a player who has arguably been the Dons' best player this season in the SPL and the UEFA Cup.
>> Latest look at PNE's new stand"At this stage I don't know where I will be going," said Nicholson, whose agent is Kenny Moyes, brother of Everton boss David.
"There are a few clubs interested. But there is nothing concrete yet. I'm hoping to get a chance to try things down south and my agent Kenny has been speaking to a number of clubs.
"But I haven't committed myself to a pre-contract or anything like that. Clubs are probably waiting to make their final plans. I think the play-off situation is holding a few clubs back just now.
"I'm not getting too impatient with it at the moment. But obviously I desperately want to get something sorted out.
"I'm looking to try and get things tied up before I go on holiday at the end of May."
Dead-ball specialist Nicholson created Aberdeen's opening goal against Rangers last night when his free-kick picked out Lee Miller and his header beat keeper Neil Alexander.
The central midfielder was then given a standing ovation when he was substituted two minutes from time.
He revealed he was not expecting to land a contract with a Premier League club in England.
"There were a couple of things mentioned abroad," he said. "But I think it is going to be more likely the Championship, or clubs in the top end of League One."
