Preston North End boss Alan Irvine wants Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo at Deepdale!
That's what he confessed to a group of children while on a visit to Whitefield Primary School in Penwortham.

The 49-year-old, who has turned the club around since taking over in November, spent an afternoon at the school answering questions before giving out tickets for PNE's upcoming clash against Barnsley.

During a question-and-answer session with Year Five pupils, the gaffer was asked which Manchester United player he'd sign if he was given the chance.

Irvine sighed: "It would have to be Ronaldo. He's fantastic. I wish we could sign him!"

Whitefield headteacher Eileen Stubbs was delighted with the visit, saying: " The children have loved it. It's always nice to feel you're special and have special people visiting our school.

"The questions the children asked have been incredibly intelligent. I think we have a few future journalists here!

"We're really pleased he took the time to visit. We will raffle the tickets for school funds."

Irvine, who spoke about his playing days as well as his time as Preston manager, was asked a range of questions including: 'Do footballers get paid too much?' and 'What's it like when you lose?'.

He was even asked what car he drives.

'What's it like when you lose?' they asked.

Did no-one tell them it was Alan Irvine, not Simon Grayson, visiting?

Very good of Alan Irvine to go out into schools, if there are kids who have not been to North End, then some may become future fans. Keep up the good work Alan.

Dear tom we are all aware of the return of the gentry as you have now posted it for the last 5 days, please give us a break!!!
As for Irvine hiting the schools it's a good idea for the manager to try and drum up support as DS will only use lack of crowds to refuse further investment in the playing staff!!!!
