Billy Jones' stoppage-time header rescued a draw for Preston North End against Middlesbrough at Deepdale.
Right-back Jones struck 53 seconds into time added-on, getting on the end of a Ross Wallace free-kick.

Boro had taken the lead two minutes before half-time through Gary O'Neil, before Paul Parry equalised on the hour mark from close range.

The visitors regained the advantage in the 67th minute, Adam Johnson drilling home a fine shot.

It looked like it was going to be enough for them to take the points home to Teesside until Jones' late intervention.

Boro had dominated early on, a timely challenge by Neill Collins taking possession off Leroy Lita when a cross from the right found him 12 yards out.

Adam Johnson drilled a low shot into the side-netting, then Andrew Lonergan produced a fine diving save to push a O'Neil free-kick round the post.

North End's first chance of any note saw Ross Wallace drag a low shot wide of the far post after Jon Parkin and Neil Mellor had caused confusion in the Boro box.

Paul Parry saw a shot blocked by a defender after he got the better of Joe Bennett in a tussle on the right and cut inside.

A deflected shot from Martin Emnes had Lonergan scrambling across to the foot of his near post to push the ball to safety.

Then Didier Digard sent a left-foot shot flashing inches past the far post after cutting inside from the right-wing.

A back header from Billy Jones almost presented Emnes with the ball on the edge of the six-yard box, but Lonergan was off his line quickly to scramble away the danger.

In the 33rd minute, O'Neil burst through the PNE defence all too easily below lying the ball into the path of Lita.

Fortunately the Boro striker drove a rising shot over the bar with only Lonergan to beat.

A rare sight of goal for PNE saw Parry see a shot from the edge of the box deflected behind after a corner had been cleared into his path.

Parkin headed straight into the gloves of keeper Brad Jones after Eddie Nolan's cross from the left found him in the middle.

Boro took the lead in the 43rd minute after Parry was judged to have fouled O'Neil 22 yards out.

O'Neill's low free-kick struck the wall and bobbled into the bottom corner of the net, wrong-footing Lonergan.

The visitors nearly struck again moments before the interval, Johnson curling a shot wide after getting the better of Liam Chilvers.

Five minutes into the second half, Sean St Ledger fired over the bar.

Darren Carter curled a shot inches wide of the far post in the 59th minute, before PNE levelled on the hour mark.

Wallace's cross from the left was met by Parkin, his powerful header parried out by Jones.

The ball fell to Nolan whose follow-up was deflected across the six-yard box to the far post where Parry forced it in off a Boro defender.

But the visitors re-took the lead within seven minutes, Johnson burst into the left-side of the box, jinked past Collins before driving a superb low shot across Lonergan into the far corner.

Parkin had a sight of goal in the 71st minute, checking inside his marker on the right side of the box before hitting a shot with the outside of his boot wide.

North End went three up front for the last 13 minutes, Chris Brown replacing Carter as Alan Irvine pushed for a second equaliser.

The clock had ticked into injury-time when PNE won a free-kick on the right-wing, Wallace whipping it over for Jones to meet six yards out and steer home a header.

For anyone who can`t make it to the game (I listen to radio Lancs) the BBC do an interesting site where league tables are shown, AS PER CURRENT SCORES. When Boro scored they went top of the league. This lasted for only a minute, as following a goal - Cardiff overtook them.

KZ, yea I usually have multiple windows open on the computer, fun to see who keeps up the fastest each week. Sky Sports ain't bad but I like the ESPN format.

By the way, anyone know how many penalties Cardiff have had the past year or so, seems they get one almost every game this season!!!
