Blazing boss Alan Irvine has vowed his Preston North End team will come out fighting at Watford at the weekend after crashing to their third straight defeat last night.
The PNE manager blamed mistakes at both ends of the field for the 2-0 reverse against strugglers Swansea.
And he pledged to put things right on the training ground this week, starting with shutting a gaping back door which has now cost PNE eight goals in the last three games.
A 40-yard screamer from Dutch midfielder Ferrie Bodde after 19 minutes set the Swans on the road to victory.
Roberto Martinez's side wrapped things up 10 minutes from time from the penalty spot when debutant Jay McEveley upended Jordi Gomez and the player on loan from Espanyol made no mistake from 12 yards.
Defeat brought to an end Preston's incredible run of 33 league games without defeat on a Tuesday night at Deepdale stretching back more than seven-and-a-half years.
But Irvine was more angry about his team's wastefulness after watching them create no fewer than 20 scoring chances and miss the lot.
He was also dismayed by the defending for both Swansea goals, pointing to 'horrendous' mistakes in both cases.
"We have got two options now after these three straight defeats," he said.
"We can either roll over and die or we can come out fighting. I will leave you to decide which one we are going to do.
"The players are obviously upset at the minute, as we all are. But we will certainly be determined come the weekend, that's for sure. We will be getting right back to basics.
"We have been too easy to score against in recent games by making poor mistakes and poor decisions and they have led us to concede more in the last three matches than for some considerable time. So we will get back to that straight away.
"We will come out fighting and ready to try to put things right – at both ends of the pitch."
