Watch our video report as Preston North End's players were put through their paces as pre-season training began.
Alan Irvine's men took part in a double session, which featured fitness work on St Annes beach, before returning to Springfields in the afternoon in preparation for the club's trip to Austria.

Barry Nicholson, who arrived on Monday from Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen, was introduced to his team mates before being put through his paces alongside fellow Scotsman Michael Hart.

North End take on Romanian champions CFR Cluj on Friday July 11 in Southern Austria in the first of their pre-season fixtures.

Whilst watching the video and the encouragement that Irvine was giving the lads, I was left thinking "Would Simpson of been like that?" The obvious answer is no...I see in Irvine a manager that is totally committed to being successful - let's hope that success is with PNE.

I do believe we have a good chance this year looking at AI in training. Excellent man management skills.

Key issues for me are getting it right in the centre mid positions but ultimately keeping Mellor fit.

Fasten your seat belts.

Methinks some people are getting carried away on one short video clip which does not tell you anything about the new season.

Just exactly how do you 'clear out dross' that is 'on a contract' pray tell?
Unless some club wants them they are paid by the club and so work as hard as the rest...its not as though we haven' tried to find JJ a club yet he is still with us...wonder why Billy didn't take him to Derby?

These players CANT be bottom half this season because they cannot blame the manager this time - he clearly knows what he is doing and so THEY must pull their fingers out...aka Jan - Apr.
