Preston North End old boy Michael Jackson is out of the big Lancashire derby against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road next month after tearing his hamstring.
The 34-year-old Blackpool skipper, who limped off at Ipswich last weekend, has been told he will be out for up to six weeks following a scan.
Jackson captained the Seasiders to victory against his old club in December and was looking forward to facing North End again on march 15.
Manager Simon Grayson said: "Jacko is out for a lengthy period which is disappointing because he was doing well."
Jackson turned out almost 300 times for Preston between 1997 and 2004. He joined Blackpool in the summer of 2006 after a two-year spell at Tranmere.
