A Preston North End-mad teenager has been killed in a car crash.
Former Fulwood and Cadley Primary School and Archbishop Temple High School pupil Michael Kelly, 18, who only moved to the Isle of Man with his family in 2006, died in the accident on Saturday night.

Manx police said the teenager was a passenger in a blue Vauxhall Zafira car which had been travelling towards Onchan when it lost control as the driver tried to negotiate a right-hand bend at Hillberry.

The accident happened at 10.42pm on Saturday and Michael received fatal injuries, officers said.

Family and friends have paid an emotional tribute to Michael, known to his friends as Mike.

Posting on his page on social networking website Bebo, one of his friends said: "You were a legend and always will be in everyones eyes. You were always smiling and its not gonna be the same without you."

Another said: "You will be truly missed. Loved by everyone. Never forgotten."

Mike was described by his family as a huge Preston North End fan who attended his first game against Lincoln City when he was just four years old and rarely missed a match after that.

On Sunday night his father posted an statement on an unofficial Preston fans' website.

It said: "I will remember his blind faith even when (Paul) Simpson was in charge that PNE would be a Premiership side. Sadly, he won't get to see that.

"As a true fan, even though it would have taken a Nobel Prize winning mathemetician to work it out, up to the last couple of weeks he still thought we could make the play-offs."

On his Bebo page, the tragic teen also pays several tributes to his "amazingly gorgeous girlfriend Becki", who he describes as "my entire world".

Mikey was a great lad, full of fun and laughter. We are devastated by the loss of our Mikey.

There is a dedicated group on Facebook called Remembering Mikey for all those who want to leave their lasting memories of him.

We knew mike from Archbishop Temple, he was a top bloke, always up for a laugh and would cheer us up when we needed it.

Our condolences to his family
