Preston North End kicked-off their pre-season in fine style by walloping Austrian minnows FC Erdal Hallein.
Neil Mellor grabbed a hat-trick, Richard Chaplow grabbed two while Brett Ormerod, Karl Hawley, Matt Hill, Youl Mawene, Simon Whaley and Darren Carter all got in on the act.

North End led 4-0 at the break as Irvine fielded two completely different sides in each half.

The small but merry travelling homes happy after a game played in sweltering conditions.

North End are next in action on Tuesday when they play Bamber Bridge at Irongate and Chorley at Victory Park, both games kicking off at 7pm.

11-0 superb result, they maybe part timers but to score 11 it can only breed confidence it dosen't matter who your playing it allways feels good to hit the back of the net!! Well done Mellor for hitting 3!! but suprised Brown wasn't on the score sheet! if he played??? and on top of that they are going to be fitter than ever onwards and upwards, can't wait for new season...

it's a little known fact that when england lost to the usa in the 1950 world cup, the people on the newswires thought that it was a mistake and the correct result was 11-1, to england.

well it is a better start than last term anyway.

However, i will reserve judgment until we play Everton and see exactly how we fare against them.

Good start though and it appears that the boys are ready to roll and scoring goals which is important.

Incidentally i was delighted to hear that Michael Hart amd Barry Nicholson appeared to be at the centre of a lot of the goals.

Good Stuff!!!!

No Birky I believe the squad flew home last night.

We have the double header on Tuesday Night though Chorley and Brig followede by Carlisle and then on into Scotland and then finally Everton and Crewe.

We were meant to have 2 games in Austria but one was canselled on the friday and the other was yesterday.
