A meeting set to discuss if alcohol can be served at Preston North End's new stand has been cancelled.
City leaders were due to meet on Wednesday to debate allowing PNE's new Invincibles Pavilion stand to have a premises licence.

The meeting will take place at 10am on September 3 at Preston Town Hall.

Surely the correct term is postponed & not cancelled?

Why a meeting? Are there any grounds for, or any chance of, the licence being refused? I would have expected this to have been sorted before the Invincibles stand was opened!

Maybe you will not be allowed to sell booze .but the fat cats can get their booze for free.so can the poor bring their own booze picnics and pies .How about the first stand in the country where you can picnic .ill bet you fill it for sure

confused. I sat on that stand for the Palace match, was that not a pint of bitter I had before the game or was the tea stewed too long.

Not quite what it seems this. Apparantly some residents in Lowethorpe Road put in objections to the new function rooms being licenced for do's during the week and there complaints were due to be heard this week. But in the meantime PNE offivcials visited the objectors and assured them they wouldnt have another Squires outside their houses. The residents were satsified and they all withdrew their objections. So the meeting was cancelled. The September 3 meeting is probably just a routine one now to pass it. Does that help.

That sounds like a good explanation Window Cleaner, and if correct why hasn't the LEP reporter said that?
